Tom Colicchio’s CPR lessons were put to good work January 19 at the Art Food Hope dinner in Washington, D.C., when cookbook writer Joan Nathan began choking. Alice Waters began calling for help after Nathan choked on some chicken she was eating; Colicchio, close by, ran over and performed the Heimlich Maneuver quickly and successfully. Said an appreciative Nathan later, “He’s so strong!”
