Andrea — that´s pronounced An-DRAY-ah — is one of New Orleans most ebullient chefs, a culinary personality who´s made a big impression in this fine dining capital. Greeting his guests at his restaurant, participating in the Chefs Charity for Children and many other culinary events around town, Andrea is at his best, a warm and welcoming host who is excited about the food he about to prepare for you.

Andrea was born in Anacapri, Italy. He began cooking there when he was only 7, absorbing lessons in an environment acknowledged to be a cradle of fine cuisine. He developed his skills working at locations in Germany, Switzerland, England, and South America. In 1975 he moved to the U.S. to work at the Atlanta Omni International Hotel. In 1977 he came to New Orleans to work as executive chef at the city´s famed Royal Orleans Hotel in the French Quarter. And then it was time to create his own restaurant, which has ever since been voted ‚“best Northern Italian restaurant‚” in New Orleans.

Chef Andrea was among the first chefs selected to be taped for Great Chefs, preparing holiday dishes he remembered from his childhood for the one-hour TV special ‚“Great Chefs: An International Holiday Table.‚” He has written three cookbooks to share his recipes and his enthusiasm ‚Äì one of them a guide to his light versions of favorite dishes. Andrea´s Restaurant has won DiRoNA designation, and the Wine Spectator Excellence Award. He is a member of the Chaine des Rotisseurs, Les Toques Blanches, and the Gruppo Ristoranti Italiano, among other distinguished organizations. In New Orleans he is busy with charitable events and cooking demonstrations as well as with his restaurant.
